Fall is in the air! Cooler temperatures are upon us, though color change is still in the early stages throughout most of Oregon. This weekend, enjoy early autumn afternoons at fall festivals, pumpkin patches and scenic drives around the state.

Eugene, Cascades & Coast
The color change is just beginning in the Eugene, Cascades & Coast region. Sneak a peek at some early signs of color along Highway 126 near Mapleton, on the mountain biking trails in Oakridge, or at the higher elevations along the McKenzie River National Recreation Trail. Celebrate the season at Colonial Harvest Days in Pleasant Hill or the Kids’ Adventure Club Fall Family Day in Springfield.
Coast
The fall color change is just beginning along the Oregon Coast. Traces of yellow and red have been spotted in Coos Bay and along the Siuslaw River in Florence. Enjoy an afternoon drive along the Coos River, or revive your reading by brushing shoulders with nearly 60 authors and publishers at the Florence Festival of Books on the Coast.

Willamette Valley
The fall color change is just beginning in the Willamette Valley. Patches of yellow and gold are slowly creeping onto street trees and on hillsides in Oregon Wine Country. In Eugene, enjoy the fresh air at October Weekends at Lone Pine Farms. Bright oranges and yellows are appearing in Albany, where visitors can enjoy the sights and sounds of fall during the Willamette River Country Trails Event.
Greater Portland
The fall color change is just beginning in the Greater Portland area. Most leaves are turning to light green along with a few traces of yellow. Celebrate the harvest at the Wooden Shoe Pumpkin Fest in Woodburn or search for the supernatural at the Beyond Bizarre Ghost Tour.

Mt. Hood/Columbia River Gorge
The fall color change is just starting in Mt. Hood Territory and along the Columbia River Gorge. Traces of red have been spotted around Mt. Hood where you can try your hand in pumpkin bowling at Pumpkin Funland.
Southern Oregon
The fall color change is just beginning in Southern Oregon. Leaves are crisper and provide that familiar fall crunch underneath walkers and cyclists along the bike paths and walkways. Tour the corn maze, hop aboard a haystack ride or savor something sweet from the bakery at Kruse Farms Pumpkin Patch.
Central Oregon
The fall color change is just beginning in Central Oregon. Vine maple, big-leaf maple and other forest deciduous trees are starting to turn to shades of yellow and orange at higher elevations. Take in the first signs of fall with a scenic drive along Highway 242. Enjoy the festive spirit with pumpkin painting, wagon rides and a pumpkin pie contest at the Bend Fall Festival.
Eastern Oregon
The fall color change is just beginning in parts of Eastern Oregon, with the leaves reaching near peak around Frenchglen. Leaf peepers can view an assortment of reds, yellows and oranges along the Steens Loop Tour Route.

I just got back from a trip to Central Oregon Via Hwy 26 from Portland Then back over Hwy 35 to Hood River. Then I-84 back home.
Bend/ Sisters just your basic mild color changes. Aspens Just barely hinting in Shevlin Park. In Drake park some of the bushes are turning but the Japanese Malpe is still green. The trip back over Mt Hood on Hwy 26 there is a lot of Vine Maple still green but surprisingly there is quite a bit in full blown red.
Not much on Hwy 35 as yet. Except for a few Vine Maple here and there.
