One of our favorite fall drives is along the westernmost segment of U.S. Route 26, also known as the Sunset Highway, which connects Portland to the Seaside area of the Oregon Coast. The road is lined with towering trees that turn shades of yellow, orange and gold in the fall.
The Coast Range has reached optimum color in the past week. Pay close attention to an 8-mile stretch west of milepost 26 along Route 26. Bring your camera to snap photos of the vibrant hues, then refuel with breakfast or lunch at Camp 18 Restaurant, located at milepost 18.
Continue another 22 miles west to the Oregon Coast, where you can enjoy the beauty of fall in Seaside and Cannon Beach.
Happy road tripping!
